Sunday at the Bidnija Ranges was the final day of a two-day competition on 125 clays and a 25-barrage finale.
The first 75 were shot on Saturday and the remaining 50 clays and final on Sunday. The prize for the winner was the Falcon Cup. But, more importantly for the Elite shooters, it was the fourth of five selection shoots for the GSSE Games next June.
It was a memorable shoot with no fewer than seven perfect straights over the weekend. Two were hit by Noel Attard, Frans Pace and Nicky Carabott and the other one by Eugene Borg.
The protagonists of this high level shoot were Attard, Pace and Carabott who kept each other in their sights right up to the last clay of the final.
All three made every shot count and while Attard and Pace reached the final on a 119 score, Carabott was immediately behind on 117.
Attard reserved his best for the barrage when he shot a straight to beat Pace who missed just one target.
The Class winners were awarded on the Sunday 50 clays.
Class A: 1. Frans Pace (48); 2. Nicky Carabott (48); 3. Noel Attard (47).
Class B: 1. Norbert Abela (43); 2. George Grech (43); 3. Emmanuel Saliba (42).
Class C: 1. George Borg (40); 2. George Micallef (38); 3. Alfred Agius (36).
