Labour MP John Attard Montalto yesterday afternoon cast his nomination for party leader.

No other nominations were cast but it is expected that both present leader Alfred Sant and Anglu Farrugia will cast their nominations by the closing date tomorrow.

George Abela has not yet declared what he intends to do but it is known he is still being urged to run for the post.

The election will be held on May 15. The two deputy leaders will be elected a week later.

Marie Louise Coleiro, Leo Brincat and Charles Mangion are known to be canvassing for the post of deputy leader for parliamentary affairs.

Michael Falzon, Alfred Mifsud, Evarist Bartolo and current party president Manwel Cuschieri are considered as likely candidates for the post of deputy leader for party affairs.
