Attempted grievous bodily harm charge

John Bonnet, 45 of Marsaxlokk, yesterday pleaded not guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm on Christopher Lee Gatt on January 6. The police said Gatt, 20, was arrested following a report that he had stolen a set of number plates from Bonnet.

John Bonnet, 45 of Marsaxlokk, yesterday pleaded not guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm on Christopher Lee Gatt on January 6.

The police said Gatt, 20, was arrested following a report that he had stolen a set of number plates from Bonnet. The accused had followed Gatt in his car and called the police over his mobile phone and mobile squad police caught up with him and he was arrested.

Policemen testified in court yesterday that as they restrained Gatt, who is facing charges about the theft, he was on the ground being handcuffed with his hands behind his back when Bonnet went up and slammed his foot on his head.

Inspector Carmelo Magri prosecuted.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for Bonnet.
