A Qormi man was yesterday charged with trying to shoot and kill two men, one of them his brother, inside a Siggiewi house last Saturday.

Carmel Mifsud, 49, pleaded not guilty to firing a shotgun at his brother Richard and Carmelo Pintly at about 6.30 p.m.

He also pleaded not guilty to:-

¤ threatening Joseph Farrugia,
¤ slightly injuring Anthony Bonavia,
¤ firing the shotgun within 200 metres of an inhabited area,
¤ keeping and carrying the shotgun and ammunition without a licence,
¤ carrying a loaded gun in an area where hunting is not allowed, and
¤ carrying a shotgun at the time of the commission of the crime.

Mifsud was granted bail against a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm2,500.

Police Inspector Anglu Caruana and Raymond D'anastas prosecuted.

Drs George and Robert Abela appeared for the defendant.
