The Australian High Commission will be presenting an Australian Film Festival at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta between September 12 and 16.
The festival is part of a global tour of Australian films, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade/Australian Film Commission project and is one of the many activities being organised as part of St James Cavalier's second anniversary celebrations.
The films come with great credentials and some of Australia's best are included in the credits: The Sum of Us (Russell Crowe and Jack Thompson); Children of the Revolution (Judy Davis, Sam Neill and Geoffrey Rush); Two Hands (Heath Ledger and Bryan Brown); Looking for Alibrandi (Anthony La Paglia with Greta Scacchi and Pia Miranda); My Mother Frank (Sam Neill, Sinead Cusack and Matthew Newton); Kiss or Kill (Matt Day and Frances O'Connor).
September 13 has a true festival flavour. From 4 p.m. there will be an Australian wine tasting from three different labels, Marks and Spencers, Badgers Creek and Brown Brothers, out on the terrace.
The organisers will also be promoting the Working Holiday Visa programme; Josephine Camilleri will be able to answer all queries and George Pace, the Austrade representative, will be available to advise on trading with Australia.
Cinema patrons attending the film festival will be given a skill-based questionnaire to be completed prior to their departure from the cinema. The best correct entry will be the recipient of an Emirates return flight to Australia. Conditions apply.
