The auxiliary bishop, Mgr Annetto Depasquale, 55, is still in intensive care although his condition has improved, sources close to the Church say.

Mgr Depasquale, who was running a high temperature, was admitted to St Luke's intensive therapy unit on Wednesday.

The cause of his illness is not known.
