The average gross annual salary of employees in the July-September quarter was €14,466, up from €13,801 in the same quarter in 2009, NSO figures issued today as part of a Labour Force Survey show.

The best paid employees were those in financial intermediation at an average of €18,159.

The average in other categories was:

Manufacturing: €14,696

Electricity, gas and water supply; €15,849

Construction: €12,665

Wholesale and retail trade, repairs: €12,904

Hotels and restaurants: €12,077

Transport, storage and communication: €14,728

Real Estate, renting and business activities: €15,305

Public administration and defence: €16,293

Education: €14,856

Health and social work: €14,633

Other community, social and personal service activities: €13,100
