A video showing US television host Jason Silva give a philosophical speech to a seemingly captivated baby went viral after being posted online.

The footage, shot in New York city by the baby's father who is also a friend of Silva's, shows the TV star holding a wide-eyed baby who intently focuses on him as he delivers a speech about the wonder of the young child's existence.

"You're like a wetware android. And now you're grasping all this amazing information as you map and model the world. You're growing, you're learning, you're expanding, you're slowly emerging as a thinking being," Silva can be heard telling the child.

"You're transcendent but you're also like, made of flesh, so its holding you, like what is this actual piece of divine miracle, that somehow this universe allowed to organise. It's insane. Looking into your eyes actually feels like looking at a galaxy. It really does," he adds as the video concludes.

Silva told Reuters via email that the idea was to simply capture a spontaneous moment between him and the child.

Silva, who hosts a television show entitled 'Brain Games' on the National Geographic channel in the U.S., shared the video on his official Facebook page and his YouTube channel 'Shots of Awe'.

The clip has been viewed nearly by 30,000,000 viewers across both online platforms.
