The lady golfers at Marsa continued with their programme and were able to play three out of four Thursday mornings despite the cold February weather.

'The Vascas Trophy', now in its third year, saw the participation of 27 players. It was Olga Proll, Janet Leaf and Valerie Simpson who grabbed the limelight.

The 'Walker Cup', sponsored by Eric Stuart, was played the following week. This competition, contested for the last six years, was won by Ann Backe and Ulrika Davis with Maureen Borg and Felicity Dix a close second pair.

The team event played last month was followed by the quarterly presentation of prizes.

The winners: 1. Maureen Borg, Anne Thompson and Phyllis Chamberlain; 2. Maria Woodward, Caroline Waddington and Ulrika Davis; 3. Terry Davies, Judy Ryan and Yvonne Cuschieri.

During the presentation, lady captain Maria Woodward welcomed visitors Mr and Mrs Booth. They have often visited the RMGC and as a mark of their fondness donated the 'Geordie Cup'. This will be presented to the winners of the Four Ball Better Ball KO competition.
