Baħrija church square to be revamped in €1.3 million project

Baħrija church square is to revamped in a €1.3 million project, the Works Department said on Wednesday.
"The project is designed to breathe new life into this central and important square for the Baħrija community, while enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and functionality," the department said.
The works will include infrastructural upgrades around the Church and extensive landscaping which will not only remove overgrown vegetation but also introduce more trees and plants, creating a more natural environment.
Key elements of the project also include the creation of a new and modern parking facility to replace the existing one. New architectural lighting will be installed to enhance the square’s character. A reservoir will also be constructed to allow for more efficient water storage and use.
Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said works will begin in the coming weeks.
Rabat Mayor Sandro Craus sad that through this project the square would be transformed into a pedestrian space.
