Bail refused for suspect accused of drug trafficking

Drugs were allegedly found in a police raid on Sunday afternoon

A 57-year-old man was kept in preventive arrest after being accused of drug possession on Monday.

Christopher Zammit, 57 of Cospicua, was arrested in a Sunday afternoon police raid on his residence on Sunday afternoon. The police said he was found in possession of suspected cocaine and heroin. 

On arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to traffic.

A request for bail was denied by Magistrate Anne Marie Thake. He was also placed under a treatment order. 

Zammit was represented by lawyers Nicholas Mifsud and Nicole Falzon appeared for the accused.
