Bail for teenager accused of stealing five mobile phones from Naxxar shop
He was also accused of breaching three sets of bail conditions and recidivism
A teenager has been granted bail after pleading not guilty to stealing five mobile phones.
Sheldon Micallef, an 18-year-old from Mosta, was accused of aggravated theft and being an accomplice in theft.
He was also accused of breaching three sets of bail conditions and recidivism.
Micallef was arraigned in connection with a theft from a shop in Naxxar that took place on January 23, when two men allegedly entered the shop and stole five mobile phones.
The other man, who was arraigned earlier before the court, was found to be in possession of three out of five iPhones stolen from the shop.
After denying the charges, Micallef’s lawyers requested bail.
A social worker was summoned by the defence and told the court that Micallef immediately contacted him after leaving prison in December and that the accused had registered himself as a job seeker.
The court granted the man bail against a €500 deposit and a €4,000 personal guarantee.
Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi presided.
AG lawyer Brandon Bonnici prosecuted alongside police inspector Joseph Mallia.
Lawyers Mario Mifsud and Nicholas Mifsud appeared for Micallef.
