'I'm not scared': Banner of Gozo PN candidate vandalised

He is filing a police report over the matter

Gozo PN candidate Frank Anthony Tabone said a banner he had set up in Xlendi was vandalised hours after his team hung it.

“Such actions will not scare me; on the contrary, they only give me courage,” Tabone told Times of Malta.

Tabone said he was filing a police report on the matter, adding he did not know who could have vandalised his banner.

A former police officer who led anti-money laundering investigations, Tabone eventually became a criminal defence lawyer, and recently announced his candidacy for the upcoming election in the Gozo district.

The candidate’s team put up a number of banners across Gozo throughout Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“Just hours later, I was told it had been taken down,” Tabone said.

Tabone is among a number of new candidates running in the Gozo district for the PN that also include Norma Camilleri, Beppe Galea, and Luke Said.

In November, PN leader Alex Borg said he would run in his home district again. However, party leaders tend to contest two electoral districts and are usually elected in both.

Chris Said, who was the other PN MP elected from Gozo, will not contest on May 30.
