Pembroke and Depiro retained the Eurosport Super Cup they won last year after victories in yesterday's finals at the Ta' Qali pavilion. Pembroke had the better of Luxol in the men's contest while Depiro beat rivals Hibs in the women's match.

Luxol led 26-25 at half-time but then had Silvio Cassar injured and Pembroke made the most of their opponents' mishap to build a comfortable lead before securing the victory at 66-49.

Hibs committed a series of fouls in the opening stages of the women's final. In the end, that 'foul factor' proved to be their downfall as they had Doreen Parnis, Marion Vella and Beverly Zammit fouled out late in the match which saw Depiro 62-50 winners.

MBA vice president Ray Mercieca presented the cups.
