More than 100 volunteers from Malta, the UK, France, Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden yesterday performed re-enactments on the occasion of the bicentenary of the famous Battle of Trafalgar.

This brought to an end a series of re-enactments, organised by the Historic Re-enactment Group of Malta, which started on Thursday evening.

In the morning, British troops manned the Vittoriosa waterfront and the Maritime Museum performing guard duties, drill, cartridge making and other military chores.

French troops manned the Auberge de France.

The afternoon saw the re-enactment of the sea and land battle at the Valletta waterfront, involving a real sailing ship.
