Battle of the political podcasts heats up as Labour unveils its own

PL announces January launch of its podcast as PN crowdfunds for its own

The Labour Party stole a march on the PN on Sunday, announcing the launching of its podcast while the PN was raising funds for its own.

Alex Borg had made the launch of a podcast one of his promises during the PN leadership election and a crowdfunding campaign for the purpose was launched a couple of weeks ago. The party has not said when it plans to start it.

Labour, meanwhile, said its own will kick off with its own podcast in January.

It will be called ‘Isma’ Dean’ a play of words with 'Dean' which phonetically can be heard as the Maltese 'din'- with Isma Din translating to Listen to This. But the show will actually be presented by Dean Hili, hence the name.

PL CEO Leonid McKay was at pains to avoid claims of his party copying the PN, saying the podcast project was announced in a December 2024 fundraiser by deputy leader Alex Agius Saliba and was not a copycat move.
