Beach Soccer Tour gets underway at Golden Bay

Golden Bay was not only the ideal place for sunbathing, swimming and ladies in bikinis, but it was the venue that kicked off this summer's edition of the Cisk Export Beach Soccer Tour 2004.

The tour began with a one-day tournament and eight games from the first round.

The first interesting matches were from the Serie A Group. Zirbis produced a fine performance to beat Wiggles 6-3.

Swing Kids and Export Lions shared eight goals in an exciting second match.

The tour now moves on to Mellieha Bay which will host 18 matches from the first round over the weekend.

In the meantime, Lisbon, at present very much in the limelight due to Portugal's hosting of EURO 2004, is also the venue for the Euro Beach Soccer Cup.

The beach stadium is positioned at the centre of the Euro Fun Park. This park is the hub of all activities and hospitality programmes held by all Euro 2004 sponsors.

England, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Italy, France and Portugal are taking part in this competition which is spread over a week.

Spain, France and Portugal are the usual favourites to clinch the title.
