The International School of Beauty Therapy in St Venera is starting courses in September leading to beauty and holistic diplomas.
The school is Cidesco-accredited and has been around for 13 years. It also offers a Cibtac qualification to students.
Courses will be held in aesthetics, manicures, pedicures, waxing and a basic knowledge of make-up. Aesthetics can be studied together with electrolysis. Fashion and photographic make-up may also be studied.
The nail technician diploma covers acrylics, gel application, fibreglass wraps and manicure procedures. Students can also achieve an international diploma after passing their Cibtac exams.
The body therapy syllabus includes anatomy and physiology, Swedish massage, a basic knowledge of diet and nutrition and slimming techniques. The body massage diploma. This is a basic requirement for those who want to go for the sports massage diploma.
There are also diplomas in reflexology, aromatherapy, stone therapy and holistic treatment. Students sit for both a theory and practical examination under the supervision of a foreign Cibtac examiner.
