Every successful event has a downside. The Floriana carnival has grown into a popular street party. But this photo taken during the Tuesday event demonstrates the utter disregard by revellers to the plants in the centre strip.

Transport Minister Censu Galea told Parliament in the evening that carnival revellers had crushed the geranium in the central strip of St Anne's Street, Floriana and broken the railing. He called for more responsibility to be shown by all.
