Malta XI were beaten by the odd goal in three by the Belgium U-23 side that will take part in the Olympic Games in Beijing.

This game was 'friendlier' than a friendly with the visitors turning up for the game with plain white shirts and no numbers attached.

For Belgium, the scorers were Anthony van den Borre (22nd) and Axel Witsel (87th).

Terrence Scerri had equalised for the Maltese selection ten minutes into the second half following a swift break triggered by Cleaven Frendo, the only player in the local side to play all match.
