Anna Azzopardi first made her debut at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest last year. Her passion for singing and performing have brought her back. Describing Beyoncé as her idol, together with Alicia Keys, Anna says that her interest in singing started at a very young age, when “she was singing all the time.” However, if there’s one style that she can’t stand, this is party music. 

Her entry, Still Waiting, reflects these musical preferences; Anna describes it as a touching and powerful ballad, one that gives a message of hope, hope that should always be present where there is love. Anna’s MPs player holds a lot of R’n’B, soul and African music she tells us – next on her “to do” list is seeing Alicia Keys perform live.

“I’ve already seen Beyoncé. It was a fantastic experience.”

Needless to say, Anna’s typical day is not exactly on the relaxed side of things: there’s work, there are the kids to take care of and to drive to and from school, house chores, cooking, singing rehearsals... Anna’s summary of this hectic lifestyle? She loves it.

“If I were to win the right to represent our country, I’ll probably be crying in excitement and amazement for sure. There would be lots of mixed emotions. Criticisms don’t really bother me, after all a lot of the criticism is hardly worth reading.
