Twenty-six players recently figured in the fourth Open tournament of the season at the 147 Snooker Club.
Among the players on the entry list was Tony Drago. He had to play with a handicap point system in all his matches.
Besides Drago, there were eight players from the national Premier Division, another eight from Division One, two from Division Two and seven from Division Three.
Drago had to start -21 against Premier Division opponents and another minus seven to other players according to category. That meant the Malta professional started with a 42-point deficit when facing a Division Three opponent.
Drago lost in the second round to eventual winner Duncan Bezzina 3-2. Joe Grech was also eliminated in the second round when he lost to Division One player David Cortis 3-1.
In the final, Bezzina went on to beat fellow Premier Division player Alex Borg 4-0. The latter had the consolation of potting a 126 break against Philip Ciantar in the quarter-finals.
Last eight: Borg vs Ciantar 3-0; Camilleri vs Cortis 1-3; Mifsud vs Grima 1-3; Castaldi vs Bezzina 2-3.
Semi-finals: Borg vs Cortis 3-0; Grima vs Bezzina 0-3.
Final: Bezzina vs Borg 4-0.
