A foundation will be launched next week to promote public awareness on the historical, cultural, social, economic and commercial importance of Valletta, as Malta's capital city and a World Heritage site.
It will also encourage increased public and private investment to improve the city's building fabric and public spaces.
A foundation charter has also been drawn up.
Four classes of membership are available namely individual, NGO, small business and corporate.
The founding members of the foundation are the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Merchants Street Business Community, the Republic Street Business Community, the Valletta Rehabilitation Committee and the Valletta local council.
Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett and Valletta mayor Paul Borg Olivier are honorary patrons.
Bank of Valletta has accepted to be the foundation's corporate sponsor.
