Some 85 per cent of households and 69.8 per cent of small businesses feel the service provided by Maltapost is "either very good or fairly good", according to a survey by the Malta Communications Authority.
Large businesses mailers were asked to express their satisfaction on a scale of one to five, with one being "very satisfied" and five being "very dissatisfied". The rating obtained was 2.1, indicating that the majority of large business mailers were satisfied with the quality of service.
The survey also noted that more small businesses, 62 per cent, made use of Maltapost's website than households, 21.3 per cent.
The main reasons for using the post office were to purchase stamps (88.8 per cent households and 96.3 per cent small businesses) and to register outgoing mail, which 95.8 per cent of large business mailers did.
Services offered by post offices remained popular, with 82.1 per cent of households, 94.6 per cent of small businesses and 75 per cent of large business making use of them.
Meanwhile, 65.5 per cent of households did not use Maltapost's registered mail service, in contrast to 96.9 per cent of large business mailers and 78.3 per cent of small businesses who utilised the service.
The majority of households and large business mailers, 84.1 per cent and 59.4 per cent respectively, did not use Maltapost's parcel post service, compared to a majority of small businesses (57 per cent).
