Bikers from all over the island this evening flocked to Bugibba Main Square as part of a campaign called 'Think once, think twice, think bike'.

The aim of the event was to increase awareness about the dangers faced by motorcyclists on the road.

Around 400 bikes were entered in this very first edition of this campaign.

Malta Motorsport Federation President Tonio Cini told Times of Malta that the incidence of road accidents involving motorcyclists in recent years has increased dramatically.

He said that as a rule car drivers should take that 'second look' before they pull away from junctions, and take that extra time to see if that biker is looming.

The activity featured live entertainment by a band called Colour-blind and a public discussion with the participation of Transport Minister Joe Mizzi.

It also served to showcase the latest models of world renowned motorcycle brands. Funds raised from this activity will go to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
