The bill enabling disciplinary forces to join a trade union is expected to be approved by Parliament in the coming weeks, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said this morning.

The minister was speaking at the Passing Out Parade of 117 recruits at the Luqa Barracks following 19 weeks of intensive training.

Mr Abela said human resources were one of the most important element of the armed forces and this was being acknowledged through investment and speciailised training aimed to continue improving soldiers’ abilities.

The government, the minister siad, was to remain committed to strengthen the army and provide it with modern and important equipment to carry out its duties effectively and efficiently.
