The Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery are once again organising their annual Christmas Football Tournament, this year to be held between December 26 and 30.
Forty games will be played over a period of five days and involving more than 300 youngsters from 12 nurseries.
The draws of the Christmas tournament were held at the nursery premises last week.
In his introductory speech, Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery chairman Henry Bray expressed his delight that the Christmas tournament has reached its 18th edition.
Bray emphasised the importance of fair play during the tournament and urged club officials, parents and coaches not to exert excessive pressure on the young players.
Bray thanked the Birkirkara Local Council, Eurosport, Mr Clean, JPM Bros Ltd and Paul Target Ltd for their support.
The draws
Under-14
Group A - Paola Hibs, Floriana, Sta Venera, San Ġwann and Pietà H.
Group B - Birkirkara, Ħamrun Spartans, St Patrick, Valletta and Sliema Wanderers.
Under-12
Group A - San Ġwann, Pietà H., Melita and Ħamrun Spartans.
Group B - Paola Hibs, Pembroke, Valletta and Birkirkara.
Atalanta stage
Also during the Christmas period (Dec. 27-30), Birkirkara, in collaboration with the youth nursery of Serie A club Atalanta, will hold a four-day football stage on the artificial pitches of the Infetti Grounds.
Atalanta's Massimo Biffi, Luca Silvani and Matteo Moranda will head the coaching line-up for this football clinic.
