"Black Monday" was remembered by management and staff of Allied Newspapers Ltd and Progress Press yesterday with Mass in the office chapel to mark the 24th anniversary of the arson at Strickland House, which houses The Times and The Sunday Times newspapers.

On October 15, 1979, since dubbed as Black Monday, demonstrators attending a Labour Party march had broken into the building and set it on fire, almost destroying it completely.

Mass was celebrated by Fr William Baldacchino, OFM Conv.
