I must admit to my shamefacedly gleeful reaction to Eddy Privitera's diatribe (June 12) in my - and the EU's - regard. I never thought that someone would fall for my initial cheekiness just so easily.
Malta can no longer aspire to its "Switzerland in the Mediterranean" vision. Perhaps we should withdraw from the EU altogether - something which has occurred only once since the Treaty of Rome was signed in 1958. Then again, "Greenland in the Mediterranean" hardly has the same ring to it, does it? Not to mention the lawsuits we'd have to deal with from irate snowboarders and their ilk for false advertising.
I shudder to think of Mr Privitera's reaction if I were to write a letter entitled Blame It On VAT. I might just hold on to that thought - one for a rainy day!
