Alex Borg maintained his unbeaten run in the European Snooker Championship yesterday when he booked his place in the semi-finals of the tournament which is being held in Ostrow, Poland.

Starting the knock-out stage as one of only four players to have won all their group matches, the Malta champion eased through to the last 16 after a 5-2 win over Polish player Rafal Jewtuch on Tuesday night.

In the afternoon session yesterday, Borg first booked his place in the last eight after beating Holland's Reind Duut 5-3.

He then faced another Dutch player, Stefan Mazrocis. Borg was again in fine form, winning the opening five frames for a 5-0 win to set up a semi-final clash with David Morris of Ireland today.

For Morris it will be his second match against a Maltese player after on Tuesday he beat Simon Zammit 5-2 in the last 32.
