Alex Borg made it to the knockout stages of the IBSF Championship yesterday with a sound win over Daniel Haenga, of New Zealand, 4-1.

Borg, who potted breaks of 106 and 59 against Haenga, finished top in Group H with nine wins from ten matches. He was the no.2 seed in the Last 32 draw behind Kobkit Palajin, of Thailand.

Borg plays his Last 32 match, a best-of-nine frames, today at 4 p.m. against Dutchman Rolf de Jong. Steve Mifsud, representing Australia, is also through.

In Group A, Joe Grech lost his last qualifier 2-4 to Japan's Takao Kurimoto. He finished sixth in his group with five wins.
