Malta's amateur snooker champion Alex Borg came back from two frames down to secure a place in next season's Challenge Tour after a 3-2 victory over Denmark's Rune Kampe in the 2003 EBSA qualifiers played in Germany earlier this week.

Borg, who had finished on top of Group E after winning all of his five matches, was trailing by two frames.

However, the Malta champion sprung into life in frame three with a break of 108, to go with his high break of 121 in the round robin which earned him an Acuerate cue system, donated by Chris Henry, coach to Peter Ebdon.

Breaks of 64 and 59 for Borg took the match into a last frame shoot-out and the Maltese cueist brought all his experience to bear to clinch the tense decider 72-54.

Malta's other representatives in the tournament, namely Tony Brincat, Clayton Ciscaldi, Simon Zammit, Marlon Bugeja, Duncan Bezzina and Tony Mifsud all failed to make it to the knock-out stages.
