After losing the opening frame, Borg levelled the match but from then on the English player took control. He won the next four frames to seal victory and a match against Finland's Robin Hull today.
Tony Drago will also be in action in Prestatyn this week.
Tomorrow he plays against either Marcus Campbell or Andrew Norman who clash in the second qualifying round today. If Drago wins his match, he plays Barry Pinches for a place in the last 32.
The final stages of the China Open will be played between March 20 and 26.
