Borg in 'help the helpers' appeal as he visits the Salesians, Ursuline Sisters
PN leader told about the challenges faced by today’s youth, especially the vulnerable
NGOs and other organisations that support the needy should be given stronger support, PN leader Alex Borg said on Monday.
He said the PN was committed to ensuring that such organisations were given all the support they needed in order to help those in need, including children and young people.
He made his comments in a PN statement after a visit to the Salesians of Don Bosco in Sliema. The Salesian community has been serving the community since 1903 through educational, religious and social work, with a particular emphasis on the formation and support of children and young people.
Borg expressed his and the PN’s appreciation for the valuable contribution the Salesians have made to the country over the years through the Oratory, St Patrick’s School, Dar Osanna Pia and Dar Mamma Margherita, as well as through their historic printing press.
During the visit he had the opportunity to hear about the challenges faced by today’s youth, especially those living in vulnerable situations.
Borg also visited the Ursuline Sisters, who for many years have been welcoming and caring for babies and children. He reiterated that society must move forward without leaving anyone behind.
