Alexandra Borg Olivier, the wife of former Prime Minister George Borg Olivier, will be laid to rest this afternoon.

A mother of four, Alexander, Peter, Jean Claude and Angela, who passed away last year, Ms Borg Olivier died on Wednesday at the age of 86.

Her husband, a former Nationalist Party leader, had negotiated Malta's Independence in 1964.

The funeral leaves her residence at 2.15 p.m. for Stella Maris parish church in Sliema, where Mass will be said at 2.30 p.m. She will then be buried at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
