Bank of Valletta, through its specialist fund management arm Valletta Fund Management, hosted a seminar in Milan to promote Malta as an international financial services centre and as an alternative jurisdiction in this particular sector.

The seminar, organised in collaboration with BoV's Milan office, was attended by over 80 delegates from banks, asset management arms of banks, audit firms, international fiscal firms, insurance entities, business consultants, manufacturing firms, lawyers and entrepreneurs.

Speakers included BoV's chief executive officer Tonio Depasquale, Valletta Fund Management general manager Kenneth Farrugia, and Malta Financial Services Authority chairman Professor Joseph Bannister.

Topics of discussion included the benefits offered by Malta to foreign banks, fund management companies and other financial services operators.

The seminar also served to promote the support services provided by the Bank of Valletta Group to people interested in establishing their own branded funds in Malta.

The seminar also dealt with other opportunities including the establishment of business activities in Malta. Particular emphasis was placed on asset management operations conducted through purposely set up companies in Malta that would benefit non-resident shareholders on a fiscal level.

The potential and the benefits offered by the manufacturing and captive insurance sectors in Malta were also discussed during this one-day seminar which was very positively received by all present.
