Following the 5.2 per cent drop during the first two sessions of the week, the share price of Bank of Valletta plc recovered by 1.9 per cent during this morning’s session to regain the €3.67,9 level on volumes in excess of 32,000 shares.

Investors have until January 7 to gain entitlement to the recently approved one for five bonus issue.

Meanwhile HSBC Bank Malta plc eased lower for the third consecutive session. HSBC’s share price dipped to the €3.08 level on lower activity of 14,752 shares. HSBC’s share price touched a low of €3.06 today.

Malta International Airport plc regained the 2010 high of €1.66 on further demand amounting to 15,000 shares.

During the past few sessions activity in MIA shares increased possible in reaction to the recent announcement of another set of strong passenger numbers for the month of November. The airport operator registered a 13 per cent increase in passenger traffic between January and November.

Island Hotels Group Holdings plc reversed last week’s decline as a deal of 1,000 shares was effected at the €0.89,9 level.

The only two other active equities, namely Medserv plc and Middlesea Insurance plc closed unchanged.

Activity in Medserv shares declined from the high volumes of over 25,000 shares yesterday at the €4.27 level.

Meanwhile, the share price of the insurance company initially dropped to the €1 level but recovered to close unchanged at €1.01,5.
