Rosa Passos, one of the truly outstanding genuine Brazilian artists, will be among the musicians injecting some style in this year's Malta Jazz Festival.
The three-day festival, which this years starts on July 15, has grown to become the major highlight of the Maltese cultural summer.
With a career that began in the 1960s, Ms Passos has a reputation as one of Brazil's foremost composers and performers, Charles Gatt, the festival's artistic director, said.
"I am certain that the jazz festival crowd will love her concert," he said of Ms Passos who will be performing on July 17.
Another highlight this year will be the Richard Galliano New York Trio who are currently touring Japan, Italy, Germany and the UK, among others.
Mr Galliano, who will be performing on July 15, is known as the world's best jazz accordionist and will undoubtedly further enhance the festival's reputation for offering diversity to suit different tastes.
"The success of the Malta Jazz Festival is based on its ability to attract people with a range of different musical styles. Apart from traditional jazz acts the festival has also built a strong reputation for featuring leading artists from South America with their own distinctive style," Mr Gatt said.
