Nationalist MEP David Casa and the UKIP’s Nigel Farage faced off in the European Parliament today as the former challenged Mr Farage to say whether he would retire from politics if the British people opted to remain part of the EU.

“We all know that Mr Farage has been working for Britain to leave the EU for at least 11 years, he failed at local elections and he failed at general elections securing a bigger majority for David Cameron.

“If, in the referendum, which he always wanted, the Brits opt to stay part of the EU, would he call it a day and retire from politics or would he try to remain an MEP enjoying the company of other Europeans,” Mr Casa asked.

Replying, Mr Farage said the Brits would vote to leave and all British MEPs would be gone soon.

“The referendum is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m certain that if we vote to remain we’re unlikely ever to get another opportunity and we will sink deeper inside this political union.

“The momentum is now on our side of the argument and yes we are going to vote to leave and within a short period of time all the British MEPs will be gone, how about that,” Mr Farage retorted.
