Bring-in rubbish

With reference to the comment which appeared in the On the Dot column (November 15), WasteServ Malta Ltd has found no evidence showing that on November 5, the material from the St Paul's Bay bring-in site was mixed.

The data trak records show that truck EAU 302 was in St Paul's Bay at 8.34 a.m. in Triq San Pawl and was there until 8.59 a.m. as reported by the correspondent. The data trak records also show that the truck then proceeded to another 15 localities, all of which have a bring-in site.

At 1.25 p.m. the same truck entered Sant'Antnin Waste Treatment Plant, Marsascala and the weighbridge receipt indicates that the truck contained 13,720kg of glass, with no trace of mixed waste. Had the waste been mixed, this would have been picked up at Sant'Antnin. Also, had the truck taken a different route to dispose of the alleged mixed waste, this would have been recorded on the data trak records.

WasteServ requires that all waste from bring-in sites is collected separately. Should your correspondent have any other information about this particular incident proving otherwise, WasteServ will investigate the case further and take the necessary steps against the contractor.

However, facts so far show clearly that on this day the waste reached Sant'Antnin in a separated manner.
