This Imaginary Woman, one of the UK's hottest acts in musical theatre, will be showing in Malta this weekend as part the British Council's programme to mark Malta's accession to the EU.
This Imaginary Woman is a powerful and passionate show: a combination of music, theatre, cabaret, song cycle and full blown requiem.
Straight from its success at the Edinburgh Festival and rave reviews, it is now touring Malta and there will be three performances at the MITP in St Christopher Street, Valletta, between Friday and Sunday at 8 p.m.
Written, composed and performed by Fern Smith and Patrick Fitzgerald, this unique sample of experimental theatre combines the musical and theatrical talents of these two artists to great effect.
This show is a modern requiem; a devastating personal testimony of a daughter coming to terms with the death of her mother who suffered from multiple sclerosis.
The show, staged by the Volcano Theatre Company, is currently touring the UK and Ireland and included Malta in its tour dates.
Volcano is a Swansea-based international touring theatre company with a reputation for energetic, unpredictable and arresting theatre that combines strong visual impact, physical presence and intelligent text.
It was founded in 1987, and is funded by The Arts Council of Wales. The company also receives project funding from The Arts Council of England and The British Council.
The performances have been organised locally by the British Council in cooperation with St James Cavalier and the University Cultural Cooperative (KKU).
