The 46-year-old British woman rescued from the Adriatic sea 10 hours after falling off a cruise liner off the coast of Croatia was in "excellent condition" on Monday afternoon, the director of the hospital treating her said.

Irena Hristic said that the patient probably survived without serious injuries due to her relatively young age, good health and the warm sea. The woman was due to be discharged later on Monday, when her family arrived to pick her up, Hristic said.

The woman, Kay Longstaff, fell from the Norwegian Star cruise ship into the Adriatic sea at around midnight Croatian time on Saturday, according to a statement released by the Croatian defense ministry.

She told the media that her yoga fitness and singing helped her to survive the ordeal.
