The Broadcasting Authority has appointed Pierre Cassar as its new chief executive, succeeding Kevin Aquilina, who stepped down to take up a full-time Headship and Senior Lectureship at the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Laws, at the University of Malta.
Mr Cassar, 37, holds a B.A. (Hons.) degree in Communication Studies from the University of Malta and an M.Sc. degree in Human Resources Management and Training from the University of Leicester. In 1995, he was awarded the Harold Scorey Scholarship for broadcasting. Mr Cassar lectures at the University of Malta on the scripting and production of programmes for radio.
Between 1997 and 2001 Mr Cassar was employed as station manager of the then ‘Ir-Radju ta’ l-Università’, and for the past five years was Corporate Communications Manager at Heritage Malta.
