The Broadcasting Authority has rejected discrimination claims made by the Campaign for National Independence in a court case.
The CNI has filed a civil suit against the Broadcasting Authority, Public Broadcasting Services and the Attorney General claiming discrimination and breach of the constitutional safeguards of freedom from discrimination and freedom of expression.
In a note of pleas, the Broadcasting Authority said CNI was free to broadcast its own programmes on the European Union. In addition, it could also fully participate in a scheme of political broadcasts on Malta and the EU.
The Broadcasting Authority also submitted, among other things, that CNI neither possessed a juridical personality nor had the juridical interest to file such a suit.
