Brussels airport closed after drones spotted overhead

Planes diverted to Liège and Charleroi

Brussels airport was closed Tuesday evening following reports of drones circling overhead, according to international media.

Dutch outlet Het Laatste Nieuws said inbound planes were being diverted to Liège and Charleroi, while all flights out of Brussels were grounded.

It said it had received information that at least three drones had been spotted in the airport’s airspace.

A spokesperson for the airport told Reuters there were “no flights currently landing or taking off," adding she could not estimate how long the airport would remain closed.
