Actress Michelle Trachtenberg - best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl - was found dead at her Manhattan home on Wednesday.

According to media houses that reported the death of the 39-year-old who rose to fame in the 1990s and 2000s, Trachtenberg's death is not believed to be suspicious. 

CBS News reported that police officers responded to a 911 call at 8.01am Wednesday to an apartment in midtown Manhattan, where they found the actress unconscious and unresponsive.

Trachtenberg's family confirmed the actress' death with CBS News and requested privacy for their loss.  

The late actress started her career on the Nickelodeon TV series The Adventures of Pete & Pete when she was just three years old. 

At the turn of the century, she was nominated for several acting awards including her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
