It was with deep regret that I read that the fountain usually installed in the summer months in Bugibba bay has now been removed.

The fountain was indeed a charming spectacle and offered a focal point of interest to all those looking seawards from Bugibba.

Lm56,776 of public money was needed to purchase this fountain. If maintenance costs were too high, the fountain should not have been constructed in the first place.

To add insult to injury the elegant fountain in the middle of the square has also been missing for ages. The fountain plates were of cast iron and were enhanced with submersible lighting. Today, all there is is a gaping basin, with all connections missing.
