Children had the time of their life in Bugibba this morning as they tried and tested the features at a new Water Park, to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi this evening.

The park, on 800 square metres of land, has 17 features and will be open between June and September from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

It is divided in zones for children of different ages and includes water loops, water umbrellas, parasols, a bucket tower, a palm spring and two water cannons.

All the water used in the €600,000 park is recycled and stored in a reservoir beneath the park.

The water coming out of the features will be gathered, filtered and sanitised through UV sterilisation and with chlorine.

The park can accommodate up to 50 children at once. It is built to represent a boat and includes a locker room and sanitary facilities.

It is one of a series of projects implemented by the Resources Ministry in its bid to create more open spaces for children and families.

Other projects include the Adventure Park at Ta' Qali, the Nature Park at Xrobb l-Ghagin in Delimara, Gnien George Bonello du Puis in Sliema, St George's Square in Valletta and Gnien Marija tal-Angli at Bahar ic-Caghaq.
