Plans are underway to re-establish the watercourse between Burmarrad and Salini to ensure that rain water will end up in the sea and so eliminate floods, Resources Minister Ninu Zammit said yesterday.

This watercourse had ceased to exist causing a lot of flooding in the area, he said during a site visit to inspect the works in progress in the whereabouts of Mosta, Burmarrad and Naxxar.

The watercourse had been cleared from vegetation and rubbish which had been accumulating for years and also widened to ensure a free flow of rain water.
