A 24-year-old bus driver was yesterday fined Lm150 for assaulting an elderly man and failing to have complete control over the bus when he was driving while on his mobile phone.

Francis Sultana, of Sta Venera, pleaded guilty to assaulting 77-year-old Joseph Mifsud Grech, being impolite with his passengers, driving dangerously, breaching the peace and uttering obscene words in public on July 21 at about 5.15 p.m.

Police Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
